Good luck! That sounds rough. We do the Denver-MSP twice a year with our 2, 4, and 6 year old in one day without screens. Pre-packed breakfast burritos and driving the early morning hours while the kids sleep are our tricks. Also, tailgate diaper changes. 1 in 5 trips are miserable. Our eldest cried across the entire state of Nebraska one Christmas.

Doesn't sound crazy to me. Sounds like the best kind of family trip! There will be moments of course, but you are all together. In 2011 my kids were 9 and 11; we packed the car and drove 9000 miles in 5 weeks. I was the only adult--my husband isn't a road trip guy. Still ranks as one of the best times of my life. Enjoy and stay safe. Happy Holidays!

We did Seattle in August with our then 9 month old and she did AWESOME.

Was supposed to drive to Jackson Hole the month before but our 14 year old dog had sudden myopathy 2 days before we were supposed to leave and required strict bedrest

Starbucks (and their parking lots) were absolute god sends. Diaper change in the car (Volvo XC90 so space) and dog potty breaks with access to sinks, toilets and CAFFEINE spotted conveniently and constantly.

Not sure how you feel about screen time, but this is why iPads were invented.

What type of vehicle? Two adults, a toddler and a big doggo, plus all the literal baggage, requires a lot of space to travel that distance. Roadtrip space could make or break this trip. Godspeed!
