There is so much guilt around motherhood in both US and UK culture. Whatever we do is wrong so I think we should just do what we like and enjoy it as much as we can.
Thank you Erin for expressing the feelings I had as a mother of young children 30 years ago. Guess what? You probably won’t want to entertain even when you have attained the exalted empty nest. My wonderful husband thought I’d use my extra free time to have more friends over, lol. Hang in there, don’t get caught up in birthday party escalations, and keep writing.
